Reasons
- This was an application by the landlord, without notice, for termination of the tenancy because the sole tenant, Mr Thompson has passed away.
- The hearing was conducted by teleconference.
- The landlord advised me that the hospital in which Mr Thompson was a patient, told them that Mr Thompson passed away on 29 July 2023. The landlord has received nothing in writing from either a personal representative of the tenant or the tenant’s next of kin. Indeed I understand that the landlord contacted the tenant’s sister who stated that she did not wish to be involved in Mr Thompson’s affairs.
- I am therefore terminating the tenancy today as per the provisions of s50A(2) of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986. C ter Haar 23 August 2023
