Reasons
- The landlord attended this remote teleconference hearing. The tenant was called on the number provided ending in ...9368 on three occasions but the calls went to answerphone. The Tribunal may hear matters in the absence of a party where satisfied that notice of the hearing has been given. I am so satisfied and the hearing proceeded.
- On 8 January 2024 the Tribunal made an order that the tenant pay rent arrears to the end of the tenancy in the sum of $2280.00 and directed the bond centre to refund $358.77 of the bond to the landlord.
- On 10 January 2024 the landlord was granted a rehearing on the basis that there had been an error in the application and the total bond of $2160.00 should have been refunded to the landlord.
- I am satisfied that the balance of the bond being $1801.23 should be applied to reduce the tenant rent debt and accordingly today order that the remainder of the bond be refunded to the landlord as recorded in the calculation table.
- The remaining balance owed by the tenant is $120.00.
- The landlord has applied for name suppression. The landlord has been wholly successful and suppression is ordered.
