Order
- This order amends the Tribunal’s order dated 7 July 2025 by ordering the landlord to deduct the tenants’ bond money from the rent arrears. In all other respects the order dated 7 July 2025 is unchanged.
- An application for suppression has been made in this case, and the Tribunal orders suppression of the Landlords’ names and identifying details.
- Keilani Damian Mikaere Nahona and Stream Aroha Norgate Nahona must pay [The landlord/s] $1,638.57 immediately, calculated as shown in table below.
Reasons
- The landlords attended the video hearing on 7 April 2024.
- The tenants did not attend the hearing by teams video link. A telephone call was made to the tenants on the number provided at the allocated hearing time. The call went to voicemail. The Tribunal may hear matters in the absence of a party we're satisfied that notice of the hearing has been given. I am satisfied that notice was given.
- The landlords have applied for rent arrears following the end of the tenancy.
- The tenancy ended on 26 February 2025. The landlords provided rent records which proved the amount owing at the end of the tenancy was $2,938.57. The landlords hold the tenants $1,300.00 bond and that sum is to be deducted from the rent arrears.
- The landlords applied for name suppression. The landlords have been wholly successful in this matter and suppression of the landlords’ names and details is ordered.
