An application for suppression has been made in this case, and the Tribunal orders suppression of the Tenant and Landlord name and identifying details.
[The landlord/s] must pay [The tenant/s] the bond of $2,000.00 immediately.

Reasons

Both parties attended the hearing, the tenant by telephone.
On 2/2/2026 the tenant applied for refund of her bond, exemplary damages for non-lodgement of the bond and compensation for damage to chattels and clothing.
The landlord agreed he did not lodge the bond and, despite what he considered was significant damage to the premises, had not filed an application for compensation.
The periodic tenancy began on 23/12/2021 and ended on 11/7/2025 with a weekly rent of $500.00.
After making their respective submissions the parties agreed to settle all outstanding matters with regard to the tenancy by the landlord refunding the bond to the tenant.
For the avoidance of doubt the settlement included no exemplary damages or compensation to the tenant and that the landlord would not file any claim against the tenant for compensation.
Suppression is granted to both parties pursuant to section 95A because I consider it is in their interests to do so as they reached an agreed settlement.
