Tenancy Tribunal case 5486009 — Tenancy dispute at Unit/Flat Flat 4, 6B Durie Street, Durie Hill, Whanganui 4500
Decided 6 May 2026 · Published 6 May 2026 · Application 5486009
Party names are redacted in the official published order.
Order
- The Tribunal orders suppression of the parties’ names and identifying details.
- The landlord is to refund the tenant the overpaid rent of $990.00 immediately.
- The landlord is to pay the tenant $2,370.00 immediately.
- The Bond Centre is to pay the bond of $1,980.00 ([Bond number suppressed]) to [The tenant/s] immediately.
- This order constitutes a full and final settlement of any disputes relating to this tenancy.
Reasons
- Both parties attended the hearing.
- Having heard both parties’ evidence and submissions, the parties came to an agreement to settle all matters arising out of the tenancy. The parties’ agreement is recorded in this Order.
- The parties could have been referred to mediation so that their agreement could be recorded in a mediated order. In that event, the order and the parties’ names would not have been published. Referral to mediation would have postponed the resolution of this dispute and would have involved both parties in the cost of further time spent at a mediation conference.
- The Tribunal is satisfied that the parties have been able to come to this agreement of their own free will, that it is fair on the evidence which it has heard and that it is a satisfactory outcome for both parties.
- As the parties reached agreement by consent at the hearing and there are no matters of public interest in this order, it is appropriate that the parties’ names are suppressed.
