Both parties attended the telephone hearing today.
The landlord has applied for termination of the tenancy for abandonment, rent arrears and refund of the bond.
There was also a claim for replacement of a missing TV and for cleaning. These claims were not supported by invoices.
The landlord indicated during the hearing that she was willing to limit the claim to the bond. This means that, for all practical purposes, the Tribunal does not have to make findings about the claims for the replacement TV and cleaning.
The tenant vacated the premises without giving the landlord any notice. This was not a boarding house tenancy, so the tenant could not give 48 hours’ notice to leave. The landlord discovered that the tenant had left on 27 July 2023.
