The Tribunal orders suppression of the Tenant’s name and identifying details.
[The tenant/s] must pay Kāinga Ora–Homes And Communities $64.00 immediately, being rent arrears to 25 November 2024.

Reasons

Only the landlord attended the hearing which was held by phone. The call to the tenant rang but did not connect.
I am satisfied that the tenant has been served with the landlord’s application and so the hearing proceeded in the tenant’s absence.
The landlord has applied for rent arrears. The landlord explained that this is a very long tenancy, since 1993, but that as of July 2024 the rent began falling into arrears.
The landlord provided rent records. These show that the current rent arrears, to 25 November 2024, are $64.00.
The landlord’s claim for rent arrears is proved.
The landlord did not seek reimbursement of the filing fee.
I have exercised my discretion to make an order for suppression of the tenant’s name and identifying details (including the tenancy address) as this is a very long term tenancy of a potentially vulnerable tenant, the landlord’s claim is for a very small amount of rent, and there is no public interest in publication.
