Reasons

Only the applicant landlord attended the hearing which took place by teleconference. The Tribunal called the number provided on the file for the tenant but there was no response. The landlord explained that the tenant has passed away but provided the number in case the phone was in the possession of a family member.

The tenant rented premises from the landlord and the tenancy began on 18 February 2025. Tragically, the tenant passed away about a week later.

The landlord advised that they were informed by the Police of the tenant’s passing and put in contact with a relative, [tenant’s relative], who advised they were the representative for the tenant.

The tenancy ended by agreement on 6 March 2025 following communication with [tenant’s relative].

The landlord has applied for outstanding rent, compensation, refund of the bond, and reimbursement of the filing fee following the end of the tenancy.
