Tenancy Tribunal case 5380551 — Tenancy dispute
Decided 27 Jan 2026 · Published 27 Jan 2026 · Application 5380551
Party names are redacted in the official published order.
Order
- An application for suppression has been made in this case, and the Tribunal orders suppression of the Tenant name and identifying details.
- This is an order made by the consent of the parties.
- The tenancy has ended and the parties mutually agree $1,517.73 is owed to the landlord for vacated tenancy costs.
- [The tenant/s] will pay Kāinga Ora–Homes And Communities $1,517.73 at the rate of $20.00 per week. The first payment will be due Thursday 29 January 2026 and payments must continue weekly every Thursday thereafter until the debt is paid in full.
- The parties agree that if the tenant fails to make any payment within 5 working days of the due date in [3], the balance of the debt owing will be payable immediately and can be enforced through the District Court.
Reasons
- Both parties attended the hearing, conducted via teleconference.
- There was no dispute between the parties regarding the amount sought by the landlord, nor the repayment terms recorded in this order.
- This order formalises the mutual agreement of the parties on how to resolve this landlord application.
- The tenant requested name suppression and, in this instance, I consider there is little public interest that outweighs the tenant’s interest in suppression. The landlord supported the request and given the attention of the tenant to the matter beforehand and at the hearing I consider it appropriate to exercise my initiative and suppress the tenant details (see section 95A Residential Tenancies Act 1986).
