Reasons

The applicant attended the hearing. The respondent did not.
Both parties have made applications to the Tribunal. The tenant previously requested an adjournment, which was granted in May. In granting the adjournment, the adjudicator recorded that, if either party was unable to attend the next scheduled hearing, the hearing would proceed without that party. The adjudicator also directed both parties to arrange for someone to be available to represent them if they were unable to attend because of ill health, work commitments, or for any other reason. If no representative was appointed, the hearing would proceed without input from that party.
It is clear from the earlier order that the adjudicator was cognisant of the possibility that one or both parties might be unavailable on the day of the rescheduled hearing and made express provision for that eventuality.
The landlord attended the hearing and pursued a single claim for reimbursement of $345 for a contractor call-out fee.
The tenant did not attend the hearing at the scheduled time, request a further adjournment, or notify the Tribunal that the matter had settled. See sections 78(1)(i) and 92(1) of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986.
On that basis, I have dismissed the tenant's claims. The outcome sought by the tenant is not readily apparent on the face of the application and, in the tenant's absence, there is insufficient information for me to determine the application on the papers. Landlord's application
In relation to the landlord's claim for reimbursement of $345, the landlord gave notice on 24 February 2026 of the proposed contractor's attendance on 27 February 2026 and sought the tenant's agreement to that appointment. The tenant confirmed that the proposed date was suitable.
On 27 February 2026, shortly before the contractor was due to attend, the tenant withdrew consent for access to the property. By that time, the contractor had purchased the materials required for the work and travelled to the property in accordance with the agreed appointment.
I am satisfied that the tenant's withdrawal of consent at such late notice was unreasonable and resulted in the landlord incurring the contractor's call-out cost. I am satisfied that it is reasonable to require the tenant to reimburse the landlord $345 for that cost. Filing fee
Because the landlord has been successful in their application, I have awarded them reimbursement of their filing fee. Suppression
Because the landlord has been successful in their application, I have granted them suppression under section 95A(1) of the Residential Tenancies Act 1986.
The tenant has been unsuccessful. There are no grounds for suppression in respect of the tenant.
