The Bond Centre is to pay the bond of $3,600.00 (6487764-005) to Rent Wise Property Management Limited immediately.

Reasons

Ms Brooklands and Mr Henderson attended the hearing on behalf of the landlord. The tenant did not attend (see paragraphs below).
The tenant contacted the Tribunal shortly before the hearing requesting an adjournment due to a “misunderstanding of communication” leading her to believe that the hearing was not going ahead.
The tenant had ample opportunity to check with the Tribunal if she had any reason to believe that the hearing was not going ahead.
The delay in requesting an adjournment meant that the landlord’s agents were already at court or on their way.
The tenant has requested an adjournment at the last minute in relation to this application previously, due to her child having covid, and that request was granted.
Given the above, and the circumstances of the case, the request for an adjournment was declined, and the tenant was invited to attend by teleconference. However, a telephone call made to the number provided for the tenant went to voicemail.
The landlord has applied for termination of the tenancy for breach of the tenant’s obligations, rent arrears, reimbursement of the application fee and refund of the bond.
