Owen Gordon Snell must pay [The landlord/s] $3,171.03 immediately, calculated as shown in table below:
The tenant must pay the debt in order 2 at the rate of $20.00 per week.
The first payment must be made on Wednesday 25 December 2024 and payments must continue every Wednesday until the debt is paid in full.
If the tenant fails to make any payment within 2 working days of the due date, the balance of the debt owing will be payable immediately and can be enforced through the District Court.

Both parties attended the hearing on 29 November 2024.
This is a landlord claim for rent owing and half the costs of methamphetamine testing and cleaning.
This was a service tenancy which means that residential accommodation at the tenancy address was provided as part of an employment contract.
The tenant admits that he used methamphetamine in the premises with another employee who also lived there. He accepts that it is fair that he pays half of the cost of the required methamphetamine testing and cleaning of the premises. The more expensive in-depth testing was needed to show which specific areas might need decontamination.
I order payment of 50% of the meth testing and cleaning costs, as proved by invoices supplied.
The only issue in dispute is how much rent should be paid by the tenant. The parties agree that the rent ledger supplied is correct.
The landlord says he ended the tenant’s employment on 9 September 2024 after the conclusion of an investigation into events involving the other employee. The landlord claims rent up until this date saying the tenancy didn't end until the employment ended.
The landlord’s view is that it is fair that rent is paid until this date as the tenant did not give notice to terminate the tenancy and did not collect his belongings until after 9 September 2024 which delayed the meth testing and cleaning.
The tenant says he was not allowed to return to the tenancy address because of the other employee, the landlord trespassed him from the workplace and said he could not work, and for these reasons he could not collect his belongings.
Section 53 Residential Tenancies Act 1986 (RTA) states that either a landlord or tenant may terminate a service tenancy by giving at least 14 days’ notice if the employment has been terminated.
On the evidence available, the landlord is entitled to be paid rent until 9 September 2024. This is because there is no evidence that the tenancy ended before that date.
I award rent as claimed and the filing fee.
The parties agreed on a repayment plan which I record in the order. I have amended the date of the first payment to the first Wednesday after the date of this order.
The landlord is successful in the claim so is entitled to suppression of name, as sought.
