Only the landlord attended the hearing. The tenant was phoned twice but calls did not connect on each occasion.
The landlord has applied for water rates owing at the end of the tenancy and the filing fee.
The landlord provided invoices that prove the amount owed for water rates. There is one invoice where there was a water leak and the landlord has reduced the amount claimed from the invoiced amount of $1,195.60 to $600.00. That is reasonable because the $600.00 is less than most other invoices.
This is the second application to the Tribunal for water rates. On 6 October 2022 the Tribunal sealed a mediator’s order for water rates. It may appear that water rates from 22 April 2022 (prior to the mediated order) should not be included in the order today however on 6 October 2022 the charge for water from 22 April 2022 was not known because it was not invoiced by Far North District Council until 20 November 2022.
