[The tenant/s] must repay the debt as follows: a. By 218 weekly payments of $20.00 each Tuesday, commencing on Tuesday 21 October 2025 and ending on 25 December 2029; and b. A final payment of $13.00, to fully repay the debt, to be paid on Tuesday 1 January 2030; and c. Where the tenant’s financial circumstances improve, the tenant has agreed to increase the weekly amounts payable and/or to pay lump sum payments where possible.
If [The tenant/s] fail to pay debt repayments within 2 working days of the due dates, the full amount of the remaining debt will fall due immediately.
The debt payments are to be made into the landlord’s bank account 02-0191- 0118668-000 with the payment reference number 977538009 attached to each payment.

How much is owed for rent?

The tenancy ended on 9 April 2025. The landlord provided rent records which prove the amount owing at the end of the tenancy.
The tenant confirmed she had agreed to have the rent to be paid to the landlord directly from her WINZ benefit. There was miscommunication and the direct debit was never set up. By the time both parties were aware of this, the tenant was working 20 hours a week and her WINZ benefit was reduced. She is a solo mother and at that time was struggling to pay her family’s basic day to day living expenses. As such, she was unbale to pay the rent arrears and struggled to pay the full rent she was required to pay as a person working part time.
The landlord accepted it had not picked up the error or acted on it in a reasonable timeframe and that this error had led the tenant into a challenging financial situation.
The parties have agreed to the repayment plan set out in orders 2(a) to (c), 3 and 4.
