The tenancy ended on 7 November 2024. The landlord provided rent records which prove the amount owing at the end of the tenancy.

The tenant disputed the rent arrears. He said he gave two weeks’ notice and believed he paid the final weeks rent. As I explained at the hearing the tenant must give three weeks’ notice. The tenant was also not able to advise the date of his final payment for rent. I indicated I was not prepared to adjourn the hearing for the tenant to enquire about this, given it has now been a year since the tenancy ended and this matter requires prompt resolution.

I accept that the rent summary, which says that the tenancy ended on 7 November 2024 and the rent arrears was $1,371.43 is true and correct and make an order for the amount claimed. Bond

Section 95A of the RTA relates to suppression orders. The relevant provisions state: (1)The Tribunal must, on the application of a party that has wholly or substantially succeeded in proceedings, order that the party’s name or identifying particulars not be published, unless the Tribunal considers that publication is in the public interest or is justified because of the party’s conduct or any other circumstances of the case.... ...(4) The Tribunal may, on the application of any party to proceedings or on its own initiative, having regard to the interests of the parties and to the public interest, order that all or part of the evidence given or the name or any identifying particulars of any witness or party not be published.
